NEWMC is grateful to some of the following companies and organisations for helping us to offer our members the best deals on all things climbing.
Climing Accommodation
The Orange House
The Orange House is the Spanish Mecca of Climbing. Established in 2003, they’ve been providing Climbers from across the UK, and the World with Accommodation a stones throw from some of the best Sport Climbing in Europe.
The Orange House have been great to NEWMC in offering us heavily discounted accommodation when we’ve run our club trips to the Costa Blanca. The quality of their rooms is second to none, and the atmosphere amongst the climbing community always present at the house makes the whole stay something to remember. And as if it wasn’t good enough already, the couple who own and run the place are dedicated climbers themselves, meaning that they completely understand what it is that climbers are looking for in a hotel, and how best to deliver it!
Rjukan Hytte og Caravanpark
The Rjukan Area in Norway has become well known across Europe in recent years for its magnificent waterfalls which give a high concentration of ice climbs of all difficulties. Rjukan Hytte provide lodge accomodation just outside the town of Rjukan, but perfectly situated for travel to all the main Ice Climbing areas in the Region.
Rjukan Hytte has been the holiday home of choice for the last three club trips to Rjukan. The Hosts Mirjam and Ruud Van Lienan are great folks, always doing their best to give you all the help and advice you could need to make your holiday to Norway a good one. Whilst being small and simple, the lodges are all you need for a Climbing Holiday, and are always beautifully warm to return to in the evening. If you do decide you want a few extra luxuries, they have some more modern cabins available, but the experience of staying in the traditional Norwegian huts just contribute to the great experience that Rjukan can be.
Indoor Climbing Centres
NEWMC regularly visit indoor Climbing Centres, for weekly meetings and as a great training aid. the main centres that we visit are linked to below, for more information, speak to the Climbing Officer, any of the more experienced members of the club, or contact the centres directly by their contact details.
Plas Power Adventure
Plas Power Climbing Centre is the Spritiual Home of the North East Wales Mountaineering Club. It is the first centre that all of our new members are introduced to, and while they may become inspired by some of the larger centres on our tours, members are always keen to return to Plas Power for its unique challenges and climbing atmosphere.
Centre Manager Ian Walton has been highly supportive of the club since our formation, waiving wall membership for NEWMC members, and always being on hand to offer advice and assistance to members when he sees them climbing.
Awesome Walls, Liverpool, Stockport and Stoke
Awesome Walls Climbing Centres have developed over the past few years to be possibly the largest ‘chain’ of climbing centres in the UK, whilst maintaining a friendly atmosphere and not getting embroiled in their own success. The two climbing Centres, Liverpool and Stockport offer some unique features, including a huge overhanging lead wall and the tallest climbing wall in the UK. Awesome Wall’s third centre, in Stoke on Trent is a bouldering specific centre, offering those who enjoy bouldering problems a new challenge, the huge roof and abundance of highball routes make an amazing experience for any aspirant or experienced boulderer.
